About us

We are a family that with care, passion and dedication, for over 20 years, offers you the best flavors of typical Calabrian cuisine. The restaurant is the result of the dream of Mimmo and his wife Agnieszka, for friends Aga, who have created the ideal place to relax and enjoy good Calabrian cuisine in one of the most evocative areas of the center of Gambarie d’Aspromonte. All of us in the Al Terrazzo family welcome you by transmitting the commitment, research and love we put into our food and wine offer, without ever forgetting the smile with which we welcome you to our restaurant in Gambarie.

Our philosophy

Freshness, quality and seasonality of raw materials are the three key principles that meet our idea of cooking. The kitchen is the kingdom of Aga, who personally chooses, for the restaurant and pizzeria, the ingredients from the best producers, preferring those of the territory.

The dishes tell the story of the territory and traditional Aspromonte cuisine, with particular attention also for celiacs. We offer you dishes based on vegetables, mushrooms, wild boar, homemade pasta, perfumes and fruits that we collect from our garden.

Me and my partner have been visiting gambarie for a weekend while we are staying in Calabria, curious to know what the mountain side of this beautiful county has to offer. We had a great time visiting, but the best part of our staying was actually experiencing the food at Al terrazzo. The first night we’ve been there for a Restaurant session. We wanted to try the local food and I can’t lie it was amazing!!! The food was delicious and well presented but the real star was the service. We loved it so much we were desperate to come back the next day to try the pizza, which Is terrific. This place is a gem and is definitely worth a try, we had a great time!!!! Thank you so much, we will definitely come back!

Hubby and I along with a guest returned to this restaurant in October and what a treat!!! We especially enjoyed the porcini mushrooms once again and the wild boar sauce with homemade noodles. We were offered a variety of different coloured salts to season our dishes from Himalayan pink salt to tasty sea salts. The bread served is from their family bakery and is very healthy due to its whole grain content. The cheese is typical of this mountainous area, a light not pungent sheep cheese which is kind to the palate. Last but not least, i would be remiss not to mention the wine and beer selection! The owner, Mimmo is well versed in this field and can suggest wine/beer pairings for an excellent dining experience! I guarantee future diners you will enjoy your time at Al Terrazzo!

The restaurant

We are located a few meters from Piazza Mangeruca in Gambarie, right in front of a splendid panoramic pine forest. We offer restaurant and pizzeria service in the welcoming 65-seat indoor room, with the possibility, in summer, to eat outside on the outdoor terrace or in the gazebos.

With the use of sustainable materials we have recreated a typical atmosphere of mountain huts, with the warmth of the fireplace in winter and the colors of the Aspromonte in summer.

The restaurant is large and bright, perfect for welcoming you as a family, as a couple or with friends. Al Terrazzo is an indispensable stop after a walk along the Aspromonte paths and after having crossed the ski slopes.

The cellar

One of our great pride is the cellar, which boasts over 160 labels and a selection of spirits, bitters and liqueurs. Mimmo, sommelier and great wine lover, has personally selected the wineries and wines, Italian and French, that best match our cuisine and respect our philosophy. From the wines in amphora of the Aspromonte cellar, to the selection of Triple A, up to the Tuscan wines of Podere le Ripi, in our cellar you can taste the vines and cellars that you are most passionate about. Even the beers, chosen by his son Fedele, are sought out among the best craft breweries.

The pizzeria

Al Terrazzo is also a pizzeria open for dinner where you can eat a good pizza in Gambarie, prepared with a mix of selected flours, a long leavening recipe (at least 24 hours) and a wood oven.
Our pizza is the result of the experience of Mimmo, who grew up in the family bakery, and the resourcefulness of his son Jan who created the recipe with our pizza chef, with a light and fragrant dough, highly digestible.

We use km0 and seasonal ingredients or the best Italian excellences.

For the ingredients we prefer those at km0 and in season, or the best Italian excellences. Our celiac customers can enjoy gluten free pizza. (please communicate your food allergies when booking)
